Elastra Adds Support for Sun’s GlassFish Application Server

December 17, 2009 by

Web Hosting ServicesSAN FRANCISCO – Elastra Corporation, the leading provider of application infrastructure automation software, today announced support for Sun Microsystems GlassFish application server in Elastra Cloud Server Enterprise Edition and Elastra for Amazon Web Services.

In this release, ECS lets customers compose, orchestrate and deploy application infrastructure consisting of the GlassFish application server. ECS already supports popular application servers like JBoss from RedHat and WebLogic from Oracle as well as servlet containers like Apache Tomcat.

“We have built a flexible and extensible service oriented component architecture in ECS. This enables us and our customers to rapidly and easily create and deploy sophisticated designs, made up of software packages and components that are already configured and connected. With our most recent release, we are delighted to offer our customers single click deployment of the GlassFish Application Server,” said Mehdi Ghazizadeh, Director of Engineering, Elastra.

“We now have out of box infrastructure designs that will deploy GlassFish v2.1.1, with clustering capabilities, and GlassFish v3 with all of its advanced capabilities such as Java EE 6 support, improved start-up time, reduced resource utilization and fine-grained monitoring capabilities, among many others. In both cases we also offer built in support for load balancing from Apache Web Servers and JDBC connectivity to MySQL database,” states Ghazizadeh.

“GlassFish is a strong platform for Java EE developers to use so it made a lot of sense to expand our support for application servers to include it. We are especially excited by the latest release of GlassFish v3 and expect to see more great things from this software in the future,” said Peter Chiu, Director of Product Management, Elastra.

Elastra offers a free edition of ECS running on Amazon Web Services and an Enterprise Edition for private data centers.
