LogMeIn and UMID Bring Remote Access to Ultra Mobile Computers

January 25, 2010 by

Web HostingWOBURN, Mass. — LogMeIn and UMID, an ultra-mobile PC manufacturer, are bringing the power of the desktop to mobile internet devices (MID). UMID will make LogMeIn products available to customers of its new mbook, allowing users to access their PC or Mac, including all of the applications and data on them, directly from their UMID device using a standard internet connection.

The new UMID mbook will come pre-loaded with LogMeIn Ignition, available for purchase in a discounted bundle with LogMeIn Pro². Ignition plus Pro² provides one-click remote access to all of a user’s remote computers from virtually anywhere with an internet connection, as well as the ability to quickly and easily transfer or synch files and folders between their primary computers and the UMID device. The new UMID mbook will launch in Korea in January 2010. Distribution and marketing plans for outside of Korea, including the US market, are still being finalized.

“Consumers want to take advantage of ultra-mobile platforms like UMID’s mbook without leaving data or applications behind,” said Michael Simon, President and CEO of LogMeIn, Inc. “LogMeIn remote access provides UMID customers the ability to easily connect back to their primary computing platforms, giving them access to their applications and files anytime, from wherever they are.”

Simon continued, “Our partnership with UMID is further evidence of our ongoing commitment to international markets and extending our LogMeIn products in markets outside of North America.”

“LogMeIn is a great addition to the UMID device because it makes it even more useful, and puts the power of a full sized computer into the hands of our customers,” said Andy Moon, CEO of UMID Co. “Our partnership with LogMein is about the ultimate in flexibility for users. With UMID and LogMeIn it’s now possible to stay connected and productive from virtually anywhere.”

The new UMID mbook with LogMeIn Ignition pre-loaded will be on display at the Intel MID Bar during CES 2010 in Las Vegas, NV. More information about the LogMeIn remote access services available on the UMID mbook is available at www.LogMeIn.com/UMID.
