Colo Provider XIOLINK Turns to Modius to Meet PUE Goal

August 30, 2011 by

Web Hosting ToolboxSan Francisco, CA – Modius, a leading provider of Data Center Infrastructure Management (DCIM) solutions, today announced that St. Louis, Missouri-based XIOLINK, a leading provider of managed infrastructure, colocation and private cloud computing, has selected OpenData Enterprise Edition to monitor and maintain a superior performance level of, and provide analytics about, its critical infrastructure to monitor, maintain performance, and provide analytics about its Power Usage Effectiveness (PUE.)

With an aggressive PUE target of 1.25, XIOLINK has deployed the OpenData Enterprise Edition in its newest state-of-the-art data center to enable real-time monitoring and analytics of key IT and facility infrastructure. This OpenData deployment will provide XIOLINK with the operational intelligence required for more accurate capacity planning. It will also help to ensure that SLAs are met for critical infrastructure across their geographically dispersed data center facilities.

“From the beginning, it was clear that Modius’ DCIM solution was the right fit for XIOLINK,” said Mike Palmer, CTO of XIOLINK. “By deploying OpenData Enterprise Edition, we are now able to measure efficiency and continually monitor performance across our entire critical infrastructure, ensuring that XIOLINK’s PUE and other optimization targets not only meet but exceed our strict internal PUE goals.”

“XIOLINK exemplifies how a Modius solution can proactively elevate operational intelligence in a data center and drive their status as the premier provider of managed infrastructure and private cloud computing,” said Craig Compiano, CEO of Modius. “XIOLINK’s use of OpenData will allow a higher level of internal visibility throughout its power and cooling infrastructure, maintaining their state of the art environment where customers and their needs are the number one priority. We are delighted to continue our growth in the colocation space with forward-looking customers like XIOLINK.”

In August and September, XIOLINK will deploy OpenData Enterprise Edition to three additional sites. The deployment will enable XIOLINK to view performance data from a single, unified decision support and alarm system.

OpenData Enterprise Edition has several important features for data analysis and visualization, including new reports for energy charge-back by customer/billing department, new statistical analysis tools for monitoring improvements in energy consumption and other performance metrics, and improved visualization of systems and subsystems to easily identify performance anomalies, patterns and trends across different groupings of equipment. With extensive reach and fine granularity of data capture, accuracy of analytics, and extensibility of feature set, OpenData provides best-of-breed operational intelligence.
