Telx Achieves SSAE 16 Compliance in 12 Data Centers

September 19, 2011 by

Web HostingNew York, NY – Telx®, a leading interconnection and data center provider in strategic North American markets, today announced the successful completion of its Statement on Standards for Attestation Engagements (SSAE) No. 16 examination. The examination was conducted by Weaver and Tidwell, LLP (Weaver), a full service accounting firm providing SSAE 16 Type 1 and Type 2 reports that evaluated Telx’s design and operating effectiveness of internal controls and processes. The report, produced after a lengthy independent examination of Telx’s control processes in 12 carrier-dense, connection-rich facilities, demonstrates the company’s continued leadership in operational excellence and underscores its commitment to providing industry-leading security for its customers.

“Colocation customers, specifically in the telecom services, financial services, cloud services and managed hosting industries, will be increasingly demanding accreditations and certifications such as SSAE 16 from vendor companies like Telx,” said Jason Schafer, Research Manager, Datacenter Technologies with Tier1 Research. “These accreditations and certifications will be essential points of differentiation for providers and will help customers by streamlining due diligence and internal auditing processes saving them time, effort and money.”

SSAE 16 supersedes the previous data center industry standard, SAS 70. Telx’s SSAE 16 report scope focuses on procedures performed by Telx which are likely to be relevant to its customers’ internal controls over financial reporting, including: physical and environmental security, problem management, technical support, customer ordering/service delivery, network equipment monitoring and organization and administration. The report is intended for use by Telx’s customers and their auditors. Due to the nature of the interconnection and colocation services provided by Telx, customers may also find this report useful for understanding the controls performed by Telx that are relevant for other compliance needs, such as HIPAA or PCI. The following facilities are included within the scope of Telx’s SSAE 16 report:

New York City : 60 Hudson Street; 111 Eighth Avenue
Atlanta: 56 Marietta Street
Chicago: 350 East Cermak; 600 South Federal
Dallas: 2323 Bryan Street; 8435 North Stemmons Freeway
Miami: 36 North East 2nd Street
San Francisco: 200 Paul Ave.
Los Angeles: 600 West 7th Street
Phoenix: 120 East Van Buren Street
New Jersey: 100 Delawanna Ave, Clifton – This facility has also achieved Payment Card Industry (PCI) compliance

“Telx has a long history of investing in quality systems that provide rock-solid reliability for our colocation customers,” said Eric Shepcaro, CEO of Telx. “Completing our SSAE 16 examination demonstrates Telx’s further commitment to delivering the best security and service in the industry to our customers.”
