Future Facilities Announces Participation in the Facebook Open Compute Project

Started by Facebook, the Open Compute Project’s mission is to form an open IT hardware and data center design community to enable the delivery of the most efficient server, storage and data center hardware designs for scalable computing.


Through its 6SigmaOpenviewer, Future Facilities is donating software that will stimulate communication and innovation or IT hardware and data center design.

“Future Facilities is excited to participate in this important project,” said Sherman Ikemoto, General Manager, Future Facilities North America. “Facebook’s Open Compute Project is serving a very important need that will help establish benchmarks and reduce costs for the data centers industry.”

On November 15th, Facebook’s Thermal Engineer, Veerendra Mulay will discuss the Open Compute standard for data center and server design, and its significance for the data center industry at Future Facilities’ 6SigmaDC Conference in San Francisco.
