Porticor Joins Amazon Web Services Partner Network

July 26, 2012 by

Web Hosting Services – Porticor®, a leading cloud data security company delivering a cloud-based data encryption solution, today announced that it is now a member of the Amazon Web Services (AWS) Partner Network and AWS Marketplace, where the Porticor Virtual Private Data™ (Porticor VPD™) system is available to AWS customers with a click of a button.

The Porticor VPDsystem is a solution combining data encryption with patented split-key management technology to protect critical data in public, private and hybrid cloud environments. Unlike traditional data encryption solutions, which are complicated and expensive to deploy and manage, Porticor’s split-key management system is offered as a cloud data protection service which ensures customer encryption keys are never exposed.

Now as a member of the AWS Partner Network, Porticor’s virtual appliance is installed and configured in minutes inside customers’ AWS accounts with 1-Click Deployment from the Porticor AWS Marketplace page. No changes are required to the applications instances, or to the file or database formats, and Porticor encrypts most cloud data storage types – including virtual disks, databases, files, S3 distributed storage and more – using strong encryption algorithms.

“The AWS Marketplace will expand Porticor’s reach to Amazon customers,” said Gilad Parann-Nissany, Porticor founder and CEO. “Security in the cloud is a shared responsibility and Porticor provides patented data encryption and split-key management solutions in a unique manner to secure customers’ cloud data.”

AWS Marketplace is an online store that makes it easy for customers to find, compare, and immediately start using the software and services that run on the AWS Cloud that they need to build products and run their businesses. Visitors to the marketplace can use AWS Marketplace’s 1-Click deployment to quickly launch pre-configured software and pay only for what they use. While other solutions require encryption keys to be manually managed for every disk, Amazon S3 file or database record, Porticor’s split-key encryption technology eliminates this complexity by automatically managing encryption keys with maximum security. Porticor protects the entire data layer stack, including virtual disks, Amazon S3, and databases. It dynamically encrypts and decrypts virtual data whenever the application needs access, and delivers a key management system that is fully hosted in the cloud. The system is built for homomorphic key encryption so master keys are always encrypted when they are in the cloud, even when they are in use.
