GalaxyVisions, ColoGuard Upgrades Network Infrastructure To Increase Capacity
March 28, 2013 by FindMyHost News
Web Hosting Services – New York, NY – ColoGuard and GalaxyVisions, the New York metropolitan area’s leading providers of colocation and dedicated server hosting solutions, announced today that their shared data center has been upgraded to 10 Gigabit (Gb) in response to customer requests for higher-bandwidth connectivity for video and other data-intensive applications.
The upgrade involved the installation of new Cisco networking equipment which provide increase routing capabilities to our infrastructure. The upgrades, which were performed during scheduled maintenance windows did not affect any client services.
The fatter pipes within the data center and corresponding improvements to connections to the public Internet enable customers of both ColoGuard and GalaxyVisions to move data faster and with less latency than ever before. The upgrade is especially beneficial to clients who stream or transfer video and other large amounts of data.
“Our customers asked for it, and we delivered,” said Raymond Sidler, chief executive and co-founder of GalaxyVisions and ColoGuard. “This investment in network connectivity will not only help customers who work video but also those whose servers process large amounts of data.”
The upgrade is already paying off for customers who require more network capacity.
Contracts with ColoGuard’s and GalaxyVisions’ hand-picked network providers are being updated so that all customers can take advantage of the increased capacity. Already, the line to ColoGuard’s dark fiber ring around New York City has been activated to support 10 Gb.
“This is a significant improvement for users of our fiber ring throughout the metropolitan New York City area,” Sidler said. “It both reduces complexity and cost, while at the same time provides the bandwidth needed for the most data-intensive applications.”
In addition, earlier limitations of Ethernet have forced data centers like ColoGuard and GalaxyVisions to use a variety of different technologies for storage and other systems that require the highest-possible bandwidth. By switching to 10 GB, the data center can migrate to a single transport solution, allowing for greater simplicity in its overall design.
“Our new 10 Gb architecture will meet the current needs of our customers while positioning us to incorporate new technologies for the future,” Sidler said.
