InterNetX at 47th ICANN Meeting in Durban

Web Hosting Services – (Regensburg/Durban) – InterNetX is participating in this year’s second ICANN Meeting, hosted in the city of Durban. Over one thousand visitors from the domain and Internet industry are expected to attend the international conference in the South African metropolis from July 14 to 18.
A team from InterNetX will be joining the numerous discussions and presenting current domain and hosting solutions, like the multiple award-winning DomainShop. The domain and hosting platform was developed internally by InterNetX and won the renowned eco Internet Award 2013 at the end of June. DomainShop provides new gTLD registries and domain resellers with a fully automated e-commerce solution for easy start-ups in the domain business.
New gTLDs will be a central theme at the conference in South Africa. The new domain endings will open up many new business opportunities on the Internet. Aside from regular country-specific endings like .DE or .MX, regional endings like .BERLIN, .AFRICA or .NYC will also be available after the introduction. Domains with generic endings like .WEB or .LLC can also be registered under the new gTLDs.
ICANN will be informing conference attendees about the current status of the new gTLD program and presenting the progress of the upcoming Sunrise Phases. Additional themes related to the introduction of new gTLDs will also be up for discussion – from general procedures regarding applications to special themes like finance and contract issues.
The event organizer ICANN is responsible for coordinating the administration of gTLDs worldwide, advising and making decisions regarding technical aspects of the Internet. A large number of new gTLD applications are still being examined – according to the latest update from ICANN, the first new domain endings are expected to launch with a Sunrise Phase at the end of September.
