Web Hosting Services – Seattle WA – DomainTools®, the leader in domain-name research and monitoring, is pleased to announce the appointments of Bruce Roberts to Vice President of Technology and Jeff Day as Vice President of Marketing and Product. Both Executives bring deep enterprise software experience in growth-company environments, and add critical leadership acumen as DomainTools invests heavily to meet increasing demand from clients in the Cyber Security and Brand Protection markets.
DomainTools’ Enterprise business has grown over 300% in the last year, as companies and government agencies turn to DomainTools’ market-leading Whois and DNS data to help investigate cybercrime and online brand fraud. DomainTools’ client base includes some of the largest and most well-known organizations in network security, brand protection, hosting and DNS, internet software, and law enforcement.
According to research done by IDC, the cyber security technology market is a $28B market, growing at over 7% annually. And a research study by Internet Fraud Watchdog found that online brand counterfeiting cost companies over $600B annually worldwide. Online crime is growing at an alarming rate and current solutions are not keeping up. By definition, nearly all cyber attacks start with a domain name (website), IP Address or email. And organizations are looking to “Big Data” solutions to monitor activity on the internet, prevent attacks where possible and investigate attacks when they happen.
Whois and DNS data, including historical data, is a critical component in the fight on cyber crime and DomainTools has the best DNS and domain name Whois intelligence available. To take advantage of the proven market opportunity, and to leverage its unique and critical data set, DomainTools has spent the majority of 2013 developing new products and shifting its go-to-market resources for the cyber security and brand protection enterprise customer.
“DomainTools is experiencing rapid growth in the enterprise segment primarily due to the increasing recognition that DNS intelligence is a critical instrument in the fight on cyber crime and online brand fraud,” said Timothy Chen, CEO at DomainTools. “Bruce and Jeff each have a long history of developing and bringing to market successful enterprise products. We’re excited to have them both on the DomainTools team.”
