Sibername Launches Preregistration Service for New Generic Top-Level Domain Names
January 10, 2014 by FindMyHost News
Web Hosting Services – Ottawa, ON – Sibername (www.sibername.com), one of the most trusted Canadian resources for domain registration and web hosting, has launched a new self-registration and reservation system for organizations seeking to claim new Web domain names that take advantage of the new generic Top-Level Domain (gTLD) extensions.
The Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN), a global Internet non-profit group based in Los Angeles, manages all TLDs, including domain classes, such as .com and .net, government classes such as .gov and .mil, and country codes such as .ca for Canada, .uk for the United Kingdom, .fr for France, etc. ICANN recently began approving new descriptive or generic TLDs, such as .academy, .food, .market, and so on to help web site owners classify their domains in accordance with their specialty. There have been 479 gTLDs approved to date that will be made available in the coming months. Sibername’s new gTLD preregistration page makes it easy to search for possible available domain names and make a bid to preregister specific generic top-level domain names or they can register to follow gTLDs to monitor availability.
Sibername offers domain registration and web hosting services so customers can be ready to capitalize on their new gTLD specialty domain names as soon as they become available.
There are currently 34 gTLDs available for pre-registration, including domain extensions such as .camera, .guru, .holdings, .shoes, .ventures, etc. Customers can prioritize their domain name bid, paying more to be included in priority phases 1 through 5 to reserve specialty domain names, or they can register for the general access phase.
“Choosing a domain name is one of the most important decisions any organization can make, especially if they want to build an online presence,” said Mesut Turkouglu, CEO of Sibername. “With our new preregistration page, customers can reserve the best gTLD names to suit their business or organization.
There are going to be nearly 500 unique name extensions to choose from, from .academy to .zone, and we are committed to working with our customers to help them find a domain name that suits their business and improves search engine results.”
Sibername’s experts recommend including keywords in their domain name to increase search rankings.
They also recommend choosing a unique domain name that is easy to type, spell, and remember, and registering multiple available domain extensions whenever possible.
