ePages provides the new global e-commerce platform for 1&1 customers

February 19, 2014 by

Web Hosting ServicesNew York – ePages provides the platform for all 1&1 eShops, and becomes 1&1’s exclusive partner for online shop software in Europe and North America. The license agreement is the largest in ePages history.

1&1 and ePages will migrate the existing 1&1 eShops to the new ePages platform, preserving all customer data and website layouts. New customers have immediate access to the ePages platform.

Thanks to the new partnership, 1&1 becomes the first major service provider to offer ePages shops in the U.S. and Canada. ePages has developed a series of integrations, and established new technology partnerships specifically for the North American market entry: FedEx, UPS, Avalara (tax calculation), Authorize.Net (payment), and as of the 2nd quarter of 2014, U.S. Postal Service, QuickBooks (accounting), and Shipwire (fulfilment). These services, along with many other existing integrations, such as Amazon, eBay, and PayPal, can all be used directly in the shop. In Europe, the new 1&1 shops are available in the UK, Germany, France, and Spain.

“With 1&1, we’ve not only won Europe’s largest hosting provider but also an important strategic partner for our market entry in North America. With this new partnership we complement the strengths of each other – the extensive e-commerce expertise of ePages and the marketing power and huge installed base of 1&1.” says Wilfried Beeck, CEO of ePages.

1&1’s CEO, Robert Hoffmann, comments on the agreement: “Professional eShops are becoming an important success factor for small and medium-sized businesses. In order to offer a powerful and easy to use e-commerce solution to our hosting customers we decided to cooperate with a partner. ePages has convinced us with an impressive product portfolio and their international e-commerce expertise. No other vendor has the track record of ePages when it comes to supporting a high volume of online shops across many countries, keeping them all up-to-date with new market trends.”

ePages had to meet a number of security standards specifically for the stringent 1&1 requirements: The geo-redundant infrastructure with its two data centers in Europe and two in the United States ensures that the online shops are backed up twice. The synchronization is performed in real time so that 1&1 shops provide full failover capability within seconds. ePages also went through an extensive security audit in order to comply with the OWASP security standards for web applications.

1&1 customers not only benefit from the existing range of ePages features, but also from newly integrated services, such as iPayment, the 1&1 payment solution. 1&1 is also the first service provider to use the new ePages REST API, which makes it easier to integrate third-party systems such as payment methods, portals, ERP systems, and marketing tools.

ePages enables service providers to open up new revenue sources through e-business. The e-commerce specialist allows partners to set up their own e-commerce business resulting in a state-of-the-art online shop offering without developing proprietary shop systems.
