Webmaster ToolboxSAN JOSE, Calif. – Future Facilities North America, a leading provider of data center IT and infrastructure design, management and simulations software, today announced plans for its 2011 6SigmaDC Data Center Conference and User Group and Call for Presenters, which will take place November 15-17 at The San Francisco Marriott, Union Square. Entering its second year, the popular conference will feature an extensive agenda of case studies and best practices from some of today’s most technically advanced data centers, including those of Facebook and Intel.

During the conference, attendees will be treated to talks from Chuck Rego, Chief Architect at Intel Corp, and Veerendra Mulay, Thermal Engineer at Facebook. Mr. Rego will discuss a data center management methodology based on the integration of server-level monitoring and the 6SigmaDC Virtual Facility. Mr. Mulay will discuss the Open Compute standard for data center and server design and its significance for the data center industry. Read more

Future Facilities Engineering Manager to Discuss Increasing Data Center Capacity

May 9, 2011 by · Comments Off on Future Facilities Engineering Manager to Discuss Increasing Data Center Capacity

Webmaster ToolboxSan Jose, Calif. – Future Facilities North America, a leading provider of data center infrastructure simulation software, today announced that its Senior Engineering Services Manager, Akhil Docca, will speak at the Uptime Institute Symposium 2011 May 9-12 at the Santa Clara Convention Center in Santa Clara, California.  On May 10th at 1:50 p.m., Akhil Docca will give a presentation titled “Reclaiming Data Center Capacity Through Integrated IT and Facilities Operations,” which will show attendees how IT and Facilities departments can cooperate to increase data center capacity while maintaining business continuity.

Realizing the full potential of available data center space, power, cooling and airflow resources is a major problem facing data center managers.  Much attention has been put on metrics such as power utilization efficiency (PUE) and data center infrastructure efficiency (DCiE), which capture data center performance with a single number but do not consider operational practices at the subsystem levels.  Efforts to maintain optimal data center performance are hindered by fragmentation that occurs most often between IT and Facilities. This presentation will feature a case study that illustrates how over-provisioning of cooling capacity and airflow can be eliminated without compromising IT availability. Read more

Future Facilities Announces Data Center Design and Analysis Update

Hosting ServicesSAN JOSE, CA – Future Facilities has introduced 6SigmaDC release 6.1 of its popular data center design and operations software. The new release provides an enhanced toolset for the virtual modeling of electronic components, systems and data centers, enabling cooling challenges to be addressed right throughout the supply chain.

Using 6SigmaDC, data center designers can construct a holistic and mathematically accurate 3D model of any facility at any point in its lifecycle. The model, or Virtual Facility (VF), can then be used to assess initial design proposals as well as layout and load changes prior to physical implementation; saving time and avoiding risk and cost. Future Facilities Releases New CFD Software

March 8, 2011 by · Comments Off on Future Facilities Releases New CFD Software

Hosting ToolboxNew York – Future Facilities has announced a new addition to its 6SigmaDC data center design and operations software suite. Designated 6SigmaRoomLite, the new module meets the need for a high quality, low-cost, and easy-to-use data center simulation tool. The software offers a clear and accurate view of conceptual design and environmental issues in critical facilities and data centers.

“We developed 6SigmaRoomLite in response to our customer’s requests for a less feature-rich and less complex application to provide a more immediate CFD analysis of data center space,” said Hassan Moezzi, CEO, Future Facilities. “We wanted even those unfamiliar with Computational Fluid Dynamics to be able to make accurate visualizations of data facilities with a minimum of training.” Read more
