Open Networking Foundation Formed to Speed Network Innovation

March 28, 2011 by · Comments Off on Open Networking Foundation Formed to Speed Network Innovation

Web Hosting BlogOREGON — Six companies that own and operate some of the largest networks in the world — Deutsche Telekom, Facebook, Google, Microsoft, Verizon, and Yahoo! — announced today the formation of the Open Networking Foundation (ONF), a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting a new approach to networking called Software-Defined Networking (SDN). Joining these six founding companies in creating ONF are 17 member companies, including major equipment vendors, networking and virtualization software suppliers, and chip technology providers.

In the past two decades, enormous innovation has taken place on top of the Internet architecture. Email, e-commerce, search, social networks, cloud computing, and the web as we know it are all good examples. While networking technologies have also evolved in this time, the ONF believes that more rapid innovation is needed. SDN fulfills this need by enabling innovation in all kinds of networks — including data centers, wide area telecommunication networks, wireless networks, enterprises and in homes — through relatively simple software changes. SDN thus gives owners and operators of networks better control over their networks, allowing them to optimize network behavior to best serve their and their customers’ needs. For instance, in data centers SDN can be used to reduce energy usage by allowing some routers to be powered down during off-peak periods. Read more

New Online Marketing Platform – Declares Independence for Businesses

June 18, 2009 by · Comments Off on New Online Marketing Platform – Declares Independence for Businesses

AITWebsite ToolsFayetteville NC – In the current economy, many businesses are bringing their marketing and PR efforts in-house and targeting their consumers directly in an effort to cut costs and improve ROI. According to the Center for Media Research this move to be independent is being shaped by “four trends impacting consumer-centric marketing: consumer adoption of new, low cost distribution formats such as social networks and opt-in email, a shift in advertiser spending to highly targeted online venues, the migration to cost-cutting virtualized platforms and the emergence of new capabilities due to game-changing moves by both new entrants and existing players”.

What does that mean for businesses that rely heavily on interactive media to “get the word out” including small businesses, publishers such as newspapers, e-magazines and domain monetization entrepreneurs? According to AIT.com, a 14 year old web host and domain registrar, migrating traditional media services online is simple using the company’s cloud computing technology that is both robust, and affordable. “We provide multiple domain name registration, dedicated and virtual servers, search engine placement, email marketing, security with a customized firewall and actual sales leads in a one-stop-shop,” said Sean McCoy, VP of Sales and Marketing.

AIT’s Enterprise Class hosting plans boast over 2gbs of RAM, 250gbs of disk space, unlimited data transfer, Ready4Design2007 web design software, MCART e-commerce platform, and guaranteed web traffic that is relevant to any business. These features and many others are supported by dedicated resources using IBM hardware and VMware starting for less than $50 a month during the months of June and July of 2009, visit www.ait.com/dedicatedhosting.php for more information about this alternative to the Enterprise Hosting Plan.
