fraudsense-phishsensorTel Aviv – Security Bit, a leading provider of proactive anti-phishing solutions, announced today the availability of PhishSensor—a new service designed to detect phishing content in real time on web servers. PhishSensor continually monitors servers’ traffic, identifying previously unknown or zero-day phishing pages, and helps hosting providers and site owners avoid blacklisting, traffic losses, and reputation damage.

“The availability of automated cracking tools allows cybercriminals to plant phishing pages onto hundreds of thousands of vulnerable websites and servers every year,” said Yelena Slobard, VP of Operations, Security Bit. “Security Bit is excited to offer an affordable and easy-to-integrate tool that discovers phishing content in real time and helps you eliminate a substantial threat to your online business.”

PhishSensor requires no installation and only a minor change in the server configuration to set it up. The service will constantly monitor the servers’ traffic and analyze it for any signs of phishing activity. When phishing content is detected, an alert email will be sent to the support team containing all of the relevant information on the threat.

PhishSensor utilizes the proprietary algorithms of FraudSense, Security Bit’s anti-phishing platform, to reliably detect phishing websites at the moment they emerge online. The platform processes web pages in any language and identifies phishes of the most popular brands worldwide. Both PhishSensor and FraudSense can be customized upon request to discover phishes of certain local brands. PhishSensor is available immediately for a 14-day free trial and in several volume-based tiers on a monthly subscription basis.

AYKsolutions Announces Linux Mint Operating System Sponsorship

July 20, 2011 by · Comments Off on AYKsolutions Announces Linux Mint Operating System Sponsorship

Hosting ServicesSchenectady, NY – AYKsolutions, a New York-based market leader in the field of dedicated server hosting, shared hosting, and virtual private server (VPS) hosting, announced today a generous new sponsorship plan to support the ongoing growth of Linux Mint operating system. AYKsolutions is happy to encourage further development within the Linux community and hopes to help Linux Mint reach as many users as possible.

“Linux Mint is a great, free, and actively supported operating system that is easy to use and light on resources,” says Artyom Khmelnitsky, President of AYKsolutions. “With the popularity of the Linux operating system growing at an incredible rate, we are proud to offer two servers at our Denver data center facility, which Linux Mint currently uses for its repositories. This is an exceptional opportunity for us to give something back to the Linux community that we depend on so heavily in the hosting industry, and we are excited to be involved.”

Started in 2006, Linux Mint is a free Linux based operating system distribution that boasts flexibility, responsiveness, and a wide range of supported software packages. Linux Mint is the second most popular Linux variant in the world and the fourth most popular operating system overall, after Microsoft Windows, Apple Mac OS, and Canonical’s Ubuntu. Distinctively, Linux Mint offers centralized software sources in a similar style to the Apple App Store and the Android Marketplace, allowing Linux Mint’s users to easily browse, download, and install new software as well as application updates. As a direct result of this centralized approach and stunning growth in popularity, Linux Mint now requires a “best of breed” dedicated hosting solution to cater to its users, provided by AYKsolutions.

“With millions of users and a significant increase in our user base this year, our existing servers in Germany simply could not handle the amount of data needed to serve our users efficiently,” says Clement Lefebvre, Founder of Linux Mint. “When thousands of users hit the same server at exactly the same time, you need not only a server that can handle the processing of the information with RAM and CPU, but also, most importantly, a server that can output that much information at a time. The servers provided to us by AYKsolutions respectively serve 100Mb and 1Gb of data per second, enabling us to meet the ever increasing demands of new and existing Linux Mint users.”

There are many varied elements that can have an impact on the overall performance of a web hosting service, and it is common to find a service range that excels within one area but falls short elsewhere. For example, on hosting accounts that provide incredible connectivity features within a facility, a strict bandwidth restriction may be imposed to limit day-to-day usage. Linux Mint requires a dedicated server hosting solution with consistently high performance across all aspects of the hardware. AYKsolutions currently offers competitive hosting services in ten data centers worldwide, with disk space of up to four 1.5TB hard drives, RAM of up to 128GB, and 10Mbps/100Mbps/1Gbps dedicated uplink. This incredible specification is offered with unmetered bandwidth, allowing customers like Linux Mint to benefit from the full capacity of their hardware without the fear of usage restrictions.

“One of the most valuable aspects of the servers provided to us by AYKsolutions is unmetered bandwidth,” says Linux Mint’s Lefebvre. “This means that we can focus on improving our operating system, enjoy the benefits of its success, and see our user base grow even more without having to worry about not being able to serve them.”

“AYKsolutions is honored to be one of the core server providers for Linux Mint,” adds Khmelnitsky. “Without leaders such as Mr. Lefebvre, there would not be the leaps with open source distributions that we see here today. AYKsolutions will continue to support and work together with Linux Mint for as long as necessary.”

By offering the unrivalled power of unmetered dedicated server hosting to these key members of the Linux community, AYKsolutions is demonstrating an ongoing commitment to the development of operating system technology that makes Linux computing accessible. With this new partnership, set to become a long-term arrangement, both Linux Mint and AYKsolutions can continue to be leading forces in the growth of the web hosting and IT industry.

About Linux Mint
Since development began in 2006, Linux Mint has become the fourth most popular operating system in the world and the second most popular Linux OS variant on the market. Linux Mint is a modern, elegant system that blends remarkable ease of use with astonishing power and versatility. In addition, Linux Mint offers a centralized software store, allowing millions of users worldwide to access and download new software for their system as well as regular updates. Linux Mint is also completely free to download and use and is open source with an active development community looking to improve the main feature set on an ongoing basis.

SoftLayer Completes SSAE 16 Review

July 14, 2011 by · Comments Off on SoftLayer Completes SSAE 16 Review

Hosting ServicesDALLAS SoftLayer® Technologies, the innovation leader in Cloud, Dedicated, and Managed Hosting, today announced that the control procedures and compliance for its 11 data centers have been verified in a Service Organization Control Report (SOC 1) prepared under the terms of the Statement on Standards for Attestation Engagements No. 16 (SSAE 16) by independent auditing firm Weaver.

“We’re committed to operating our data centers and facilities at a level that meets or exceeds the highest industry and regulatory standards,” said Steve Kinman, Vice President of Customer Relations for SoftLayer. “We’re proud to be one of the first in the hosting industry to complete a SSAE 16 review, assuring our customers that they can count on us for best practices in all that we do.”

SSAE 16, developed by the Auditing Standards Board (ASB) of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), replaces the Statement on Auditing Standards No. 70 (SAS 70), which was the standard used for reviewing service organization control processes for nearly two decades. SoftLayer has received SAS 70 Type II assessments since 2008.

Weaver performed an independent audit and extensive testing of control activities and effectiveness at all SoftLayer data centers, with a full assessment of:

– Oversight by executive management
– Operations and customer service
– Development and information technology organization
– Human resources policies and procedures
– Risk assessment monitoring

The SOC 1 was prepared using the “inclusive method” that incorporated reviews of relevant SoftLayer service partners, mitigating the need for SoftLayer customers to collect additional compliance verifications.

“Not only do we want to provide customers with superior assurance and confidence in our operations, we wanted to make it easy for them,” said Mr. Kinman. “Using the inclusive method streamlined the process. And we’ve created an easy-to-use tool in our Customer Portal so customers can e-sign the SSAE 16 non-disclosure agreement and immediately access the verification they need.” Read more
