Hosting ServicesDALLAS SoftLayer Technologies®, the innovation leader in Cloud and Dedicated hosting, today announced the launch of SoftLayer Managed Hosting. The new offering provides enterprise-class computing environments with expert, 24×7 management and support of those environments’ core services, including database, security, monitoring, backup, and storage management.

“This is Managed Hosting the SoftLayer way,” said Lance Crosby, SoftLayer Chief Executive Officer. “We’ve paired our unique advantages in automation with an around-the-clock team of certified support and engineering personnel to create a Managed Hosting offering that’s more scalable, reliable, and cost-effective than any other, and practically on-demand.”

SoftLayer Managed Hosting is available for any SoftLayer infrastructure solution, including Cloud, Dedicated, or seamlessly integrated environments. Leveraging the company’s acclaimed automation and industry-leading Customer Portal and Application Programming Interface (API), it delivers key benefits including:

– One-business-day provisioning of servers, operating systems, and basic applications
– Automated deployment and management for lower risk of human error
– 24×7 support from certified support and engineering team
– Highly competitive pricing for lower total cost of operations
– Monthly contracts with no long-term commitment
– Executive dashboard and real-time reporting and status

SoftLayer is also able to provide customers the unique opportunity to self-manage specific parts of their hosted environment while the company manages others. This combination of benefits and capabilities is available from no other managed solution provider, and delivers customers all-new application options, performance, and flexibility.

“What SoftLayer has done with Managed Hosting sets them apart in the market,” said Cheri Shine, Executive Vice President of NexGen Compliance Solutions, provider of TitleHound, a title insurance rate calculator and fee engine. SoftLayer worked with NexGen and a select group of early Managed Hosting customers to assess their greatest needs and refine the service’s protocols. “With automated deployment, we don’t have to worry about it taking days to get a server online or that a server might end up wrongly configured. And we can easily monitor how our environment is performing at any given moment. We can think less about our infrastructure and more about our business. That’s what a Managed Hosting solution is supposed to let you do.”

SoftLayer Managed Hosting is designed for customers requiring large, multi-faceted deployments. The base Managed Hosting server configuration includes:

– 1Gbps Network Port
– Separate Public and Private Network Interfaces
– Antivirus Software
– Virtual Dedicated Rack
– 50GB eVault Managed Backup
– Additional Bare Metal Restore Plugin (Windows only)
– Managed Nimsoft Monitoring Services
