Hosting BlogTORONTO – Q9 Networks Inc. (Q9) raises the bar again and further solidifies its leadership position with the opening of its sixth data center in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA). In response to strong demand, two phases comprising two megawatts of critical customer capacity were built, instead of the single phase originally planned. The second phase is scheduled to open later this quarter.

Q9 will invest $125 million in the new 240,000 square foot data center, representing the company’s largest-ever investment in new data center capacity serving the GTA. Located adjacent to Q9’s existing Brampton data centers, the new facility creates Canada’s largest commercial data center campus with capacity in place today to support eight megawatts of critical customer load. Capacity is being built out in phases, with sufficient expansion available on-site to support an ultimate capacity of more than 15 megawatts on the same campus. Read more

(Q9) today announced that it secured a new $210 million Senior Secured Credit Facility from a syndicate of banks led by TD Securities as agent, BMO Capital Markets, RBC Capital Markets and Barclays Structured Principal Investing. The facility substantially increases Q9’s borrowing capacity and its ability to accelerate expansion plans.

CAA SCO is the largest CAA organization in Canada and provides numerous mission-critical services to its 1.8 million members, including 7×24 emergency roadside assistance, travel services and home and auto insurance protection.

CAA SCO is consolidating its IT infrastructure from four data centers, two internal facilities and two external facilities, into a single Q9 data center with failover infrastructure at a second Q9 facility. The solution will allow the national law firm to consolidate critical IT assets from six offices across Canada into one Q9 data centre, beginning with its Calgary, Alberta office.

Under the terms of the agreement, Q9 is providing FMC with secure and redundant physical infrastructure in one of its high-security data centres, as well as managed bandwidth and 7×24 monitoring, to ensure the highest levels of performance and reliability for all of its IT systems. Read more

Hosting Tools TORONTO – Q9 Networks Inc. is pleased to announce the opening of its third data centre in the Calgary area. The data centre, which opened just two years after Q9 launched its second Calgary data centre, has a potential total capacity of more than 10,000 cabinet equivalents.

The first phase of the data centre, representing an investment of $50 million, including land and a building, will support 1,200 cabinet equivalents. More than 38 per cent of the capacity in the first phase has already been reserved by new and existing customers. Additional capacity will be brought on-stream as required. Read more

Web Hosting ToolsTORONTO – Q9 Networks Inc. today announced it has signed a 15-year data centre services agreement with EDS Advanced Solutions to support EAS’ recently announced contract with the British Columbia Ministry of Labour and Citizens’ Services.

As part of Q9’s agreement with EAS, valued in excess of $100 million, Q9 will build and operate a new data centre in Kamloops, British Columbia. The high-availability facility is expected to be built in phases with an ultimate capacity of at least 3.5 megawatts of critical power and cooling capacity. Read more

Under the terms of the agreement, Labatt is taking advantage of Q9’s multiple data centres to host production, staging and disaster recovery infrastructure for the sites. Q9 is providing a complete suite of managed services, including: servers, switches, data backup and restore, Internet bandwidth and 7×24 support. The Web properties are being hosted using Q9-supported VMware, allowing Labatt’s advertising agencies to separately and cost-effectively administer the more than half dozen Web properties in multiple virtual environments.
