Hosting ServicesALISO VIEJO, CA – Quest Software, Inc. (Nasdaq: QSFT) publicly detailed its virtualization and cloud strategy at a breakfast event for media and analysts last week at the VMworld conference in San Francisco. Carl Eberling, Quest vice president and general manager, Virtualization and Cloud Management, and Scott Davidson, senior vice president and CFO, presented the strategy before a packed audience of financial and industry analysts and media.

“Quest is known for market leadership, superior products and 100,000 global customers,” Eberling told attendees. “You probably don’t know, however, that Quest is the largest virtualization management ISV, and market leader in data protection and monitoring with more than 20,000 virtualization customers worldwide. Our solutions for physical, virtual and cloud infrastructures include data protection, monitoring, administration, desktop virtualization, and cloud automation.”

With the development of new technologies, release of new products, and strategic acquisitions, Quest is poised to deliver an even more enhanced virtualization product portfolio, Eberling said. The company is leveraging its core strengths to provide best-in-class management technologies spanning physical, virtual and cloud environments; deliver platform-independent solutions across heterogeneous environments; continue setting the standards for ease of use and time to value; understand customer needs and provide solutions that help gain maximum value from their computing environments; and develop and enhance its partner ecosystem.

Quest partners DirectPointe and VMware, and customer Thomson Reuters joined company representatives at the event, which detailed Quest’s bold moves in the virtualization and cloud computing market, and was preceded by announcements of solutions and partnerships that will further support the company’s virtualization and cloud management offerings. These include a licensing agreement with Liquidware Labs for its Stratusphere Fit™ and UX™ products; a new technology alliance with Virtual Computer for open support of client-side hypervisors; and the success story of the UK’s Kingston University, which will implement the desktop virtualization solution, Quest® vWorkspace, to provide 23,000 students and 2,000 staff with virtual access to their university desktops and learning resources from any location, on a wide range of devices, at any time.

New Quest product releases announced last week include vWorkspace ThinShell, a zero cost application for Windows PCs that enables them to operate as “kiosks;” Quest® Cloud Automation Platform 7.5, the company’s next generation of enterprise-class cloud automation and management technology and vFoglight® Storage, a physical storage monitoring solution that enables administrators to optimize their virtual infrastructures by gaining greater control and visibility over the physical layer.
