Windstream Hosted Solutions Announces Advanced Data Center Compliance

January 19, 2012 by

Web Hosting ServicesRALEIGH, N.C. – Windstream Hosted Solutions, one of the nation’s premier providers of enterprise-class managed hosting solutions, today announced that more than a dozen of its data centers nationwide have completed and passed a new, more stringent audit, demonstrating to its customers and prospects a continuing commitment to ensuring the security of their systems and data.

Windstream Hosted Solutions’ data centers were found to be in compliance with the SSAE 16, SOC 1 Type II standard, as developed by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA). The SSAE audits replace the established, and more familiar, SAS 70 audits with a full checklist of internal controls and procedures that the AICPA says “are either the same as, or in some cases, more rigorous than those required by SAS 70.” The SSAE test reviews a wide range of controls focused on the security of data as they pertain to governmental financial regulations, and determines whether those controls are correctly operating, suitably designed, and operating effectively.

“SSAE compliance demonstrates our commitment to delivering an industry-leading level of protection to our customers, who are colocating data and equipment, or using our data centers to outsource all or a part or their entire IT infrastructure through cloud and managed services,” said Chris Nicolini, Windstream Hosted Solutions’ Vice President of Data Center Operations. “The compliance places us at the forefront of companies in this critical area, allowing us to focus on the delivery of smart solutions to our clients, coupled with the personalized service they have come to expect.”

A majority of Windstream Hosted Solutions’ data centers throughout the country are included in the SSAE audit, including its centers in Boston, Raleigh, Charlotte, Philadelphia, Milwaukee and other locations.
