ProlimeHost Dedicated Linux Server Statistics Benchmarked After Full Cpanel Integration

August 29, 2012 by

Web Hosting Services – After completing a month of full Cpanel integration with their dedicated Linux server base, ProlimeHost today made an internal release of their server usage statistics benchmark data. As per Tom Beck, the spokesperson from the eminent web host, the statistics have been derived based upon complete usage data of their full dedicated Linux server user base and the process has internally led to the creation of an initial benchmarking data. The statistics address scalability of their servers from the angle of webmasters controlling their websites and the end-users using those boxes simultaneously, at a scale of 1:1000 developers per user. Beck further announced their plans to design a workload generator to simulate developer and user behavior and thereby cement the initially drafted benchmark statistics.

Tom Beck, the technical officer of the web hosting solution provider, believes that this move will help the company significantly improve the user experience, which is already at par with the highly competitive hosting industry. “The benchmarking of the Linux dedicated servers will clearly indicate the bottlenecks in our hosting systems, both from the business owners’ as well as the customers’ angles. This will help us keep improving the bottlenecks and make our overall hosting solution as optimal as it can possibly be. I expect the process to drastically cut the operating costs at some parts of the overall hosting pipeline, leading to a significant cost-cut overall. In addition, the user experience will improve because of removal of the bottlenecks.”

Tom Beck, the company spokesperson, added, “I am glad that we have decided to transform this development into an actionable tool inside our internal system. Every time we make an update to our hosting system, we can now use this tool and quickly validate the quality of the change.”

Benchmarking performance is the heart of scalable IT systems. The scalability benchmarking performed by ProlimeHost shows their maturity in the IT server market, feel the industry experts. “Software performance measurement is impossible to do in absence of full knowledge about the scalability of the system in question. In fact, it is a surprise that most web hosting companies never even speak about this in public. In my belief, these companies are either silent about any such benchmark measurement and perform these tests in-house, or they are not fully aware of the technical implications of such measurements and hence never perform such tests. I am glad to finally come across a company which talks about such an important aspect of scaling web servers publicly”, said an industry expert, on condition of anonymity. The experiences of users in terms of response delay and process turnaround go hand-in-glove with scalability, especially for web hosting systems, the expert further added.

While the tool is anticipated to be technically a challenging barrier to overcome, attaining this goal will make ProlimeHost one of the rare web hosting companies to go into such technical depths. As of now, the benchmark created by the company based on the Linux dedicated server usage is interesting on its own merits. Such a benchmark is among the technically deepest analytical insights into server usage behavior analysis, as per the practices followed in the web hosting server industry.
