Webmaster ToolboxSan Jose, Calif. – Future Facilities North America, a leading provider of data center infrastructure simulation software, today announced that its Senior Engineering Services Manager, Akhil Docca, will speak at the Uptime Institute Symposium 2011 May 9-12 at the Santa Clara Convention Center in Santa Clara, California.  On May 10th at 1:50 p.m., Akhil Docca will give a presentation titled “Reclaiming Data Center Capacity Through Integrated IT and Facilities Operations,” which will show attendees how IT and Facilities departments can cooperate to increase data center capacity while maintaining business continuity.

Realizing the full potential of available data center space, power, cooling and airflow resources is a major problem facing data center managers.  Much attention has been put on metrics such as power utilization efficiency (PUE) and data center infrastructure efficiency (DCiE), which capture data center performance with a single number but do not consider operational practices at the subsystem levels.  Efforts to maintain optimal data center performance are hindered by fragmentation that occurs most often between IT and Facilities. This presentation will feature a case study that illustrates how over-provisioning of cooling capacity and airflow can be eliminated without compromising IT availability. Read more
